Fika Architects was commissioned by a developer to design a large-scale distribution center in East Chicago, strategically positioned adjacent to railroad tracks for optimal logistics. The project features two identical buildings, each constructed with precast concrete exterior walls and a steel roof structure, offering a 34-foot clear height for efficient storage and operations. Designed for seamless product flow, each building includes 94 loading docks positioned on opposing walls to facilitate smooth inbound and outbound logistics. The expansive site maximizes land use, ensuring efficiency and flexibility for modern distribution needs.
