Fika Architects is leading the full renovation and expansion of Brighton Fire Station No. 31, transforming it into the department’s main dispatch hub and headquarters. The project involves a complete gut renovation of the existing facility and the addition of a two-story expansion along Grand River Road.
On the first floor, the design expands and modernizes the apparatus bay, now featuring four striking red aluminum and glass overhead doors. New dormitories and dayroom spaces enhance comfort and functionality for fire personnel. The second floor introduces administrative offices and a dedicated training room, ensuring the station can serve both operational and leadership needs.
Architecturally, the design highlights a bold single-slope roofline, complemented by a brick and fiber cement panel façade that balances durability with a contemporary civic identity. With this renovation and addition, Brighton Fire Station No. 31 will serve as a state-of-the-art headquarters, designed to support the department’s mission for years to come.
